Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has explained why he and his teammates often laugh at Travis Kelce during practice.

The Chiefs tight end has been making headlines in recent weeks due to rumours that he is dating world-famous singer Taylor Swift. Since the rumours began, Swift has attended three Chiefs games this season, including Thursday night.

Week 6 in the NFL saw the Chiefs face the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium on "Thursday Night Football." Swift was in a private suite in the stadium, where she sat alongside Kelce’s parents, Donna and Ed, and Mahomes’ wife, Brittany.

After helping the Chiefs record a 19-8 win over the Broncos, Mahomes was asked about Kelce’s role within the team. Kelce did not record a touchdown against Denver but does have three in total so far this season.

Mahomes was chatting with Amazon Prime's panel after the game on Thursday night when he spoke about Kelce’s approach to practice and games. It was here that the two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback revealed how he and his teammates react to the tight end’s approach to often running his own routes rather than pre-designed plays.

“No, there's no plan to that at all,” Mahomes told Amazon Prime. “So what happens is in practice Travis does it, and everybody laughs.

“They laugh at it and then all of a sudden, he just does it in a game and you're just like if it works, eh, OK.”

Neither Kelce nor Swift have yet to publicly confirm or deny that the pair are in a relationship. The rumours began at the start of September when the duo was spotted together at an event in New York City.

October 5 marked Kelce’s 34th birthday, and the build-up was dominated by rumours about whether or not Swift would be in attendance. It was reported by US Weekly that Kelce and Swift were able to spend time together before the Week 4 game against the Minnesota Vikings, which the singer did not attend.

Swift has now attended three Chiefs games in the NFL, with two coming at Arrowhead Stadium. The singer was in attendance for the Week 3 win against the Chicago Bears, and it remains to be seen if she will return for the Week 7 game against the Los Angeles Chargers on October 22.

It’s not just in Kansas City that Swift has gone to watch Kelce in action. The 33-year-old was at MetLife Stadium to watch the Chiefs beat the New York Jets, where she sat alongside Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, and Hugh Jackman.
