Tommy Davidson claims that he once had a confrontation with Will Smith over an "unrehearsed" kiss with the latter's wife Jada Pinkett Smith whilst working on a film together.
The comedian, 59, appeared on the latest episode of the Club Shay Shay podcast. The episode included discussion about fellow actors Will, 55, and Jada, 52, with Tommy having starred alongside the latter in the film Woo (1998).
At one point during the podcast, he told host Shannon Sharpe that Will confronted him in a trailer. Tommy said he didn't know at the time what it had been over, but added that he later heard it was because of an unrehearsed kiss.

He's standing over me [...] and he's like 'I don't appreciate that, man. I don't appreciate that.' And I'm like 'what you talking about?' I always know to play it off."

He then continued: "I was asking him why then but he wasn't saying nothing. I'm going 'what's going on man? Tell me what's happening.' And since he was standing and I was sitting, I was a real nice fella. That's about physics, right?"
Tommy added: "So I'm like 'y'know what's going on man?' and he's like 'I don't appreciate that'. And Jada's going 'Will, Will'. I'm saying, 'but what's happening, man?' [And he said] 'no, you tell me what's happening. Hmm? Hmm?' [And he's biting his lip like] he might do something."
The actor said that he subsequently got up and asked what the confrontation was about. He said on the podcast that Will - who has been married to Jada since 1997 - told him: "You know what's up." Tommy said he then suggested they go outside to talk away from others in the trailer, and claimed that Jada wasn't impressed by the suggestion.
He spoke about his former co-star Jada and her husband Will Smith on a podcast recently (Club Shay Shay)Tommy added: "That was the end of that [...] I never knew, it wasn't until my book came out years later [in 2020], where I counted that as one of the things that really bothered me and hurt me bad because I didn't know and I look up to him.
He said that whilst working on his memoir Living in Color: What's Funny About Me, he had to get people he planned to mention in it to "sign off" on being referenced. Tommy said he reached out to a mutual friend, who then put him in contact with Will and Jada. He said they gave permission for the situation to be mentioned and suggested they confirmed the cause of it.
Tommy said: "And what I put was that I thought, in the book I thought, the only thing that could be possible was the producers came to my trailer right when we were on the last scene, and it's a kissing scene. And they said 'the kissing scene's now, not later on tonight' [...] and I said 'but I've not rehearsed with Jada'.

And I was like 'we never got a chance to work that out'. You can make it look real if she's working with you and everything without kissing her."
Tommy said he refused but added that he was subsequently told that Jada had given her approval. "[I was told] 'she said just go for it'. And even then I was like 'I ain't just gonna go for it' but I know I have to make it look real.
"So I'm trying to make it look real and she's kinda uncomfortable about it. But we got through it and you never could tell. That's all I wanted right, was to get it to play into the film. [...] So they called me and said 'hey that is what happened' and I didn't find out for that long, it was more than 15 years [later]."
