Good Morning Britain star Ben Shephard has revealed Kate Garraway has a work habit which doesn't go down well with all of the cast and crew on set of the ITV show.

Ben, 48, has been working as a presenter on GMB since 2014 and has presented alongside Susanna Reid and Kate on a number of occasions.

However, the star has recently been appearing on This Morning – hosting the programme alongside Holly Willoughby, before she sadly quit the show earlier this week after 14 years on the programme.

As Ben responded to rumours he's due to make a permanent jump from the Good Morning Britain desk to the This Morning sofa in a chat with the Mirror on the red carpet of the Pride of Britain Awards, he gave a behind-the-scenes insight into working on GMB – and revealed his colleague Kate's 'really smelly' habit.

As Ben was quizzed on the perks of the later wakeup times when hosting This Morning alongside his GMB colleague Susanna Reid, he said: "Amazing! You get an amazing lie-in and, as I pointed out to Susanna and Kate, they make amazing cheesecake or curry – the food they give you is wonderful."

Susanna, 52, then added: We're going to have to up our food game!"

As the Mirror suggests getting a chef in for GMB, Ben says: "About time right," before Susanna says: "But the food for the time being is just toast, just toast and tea!"

However, while may of the GMB team settle for toast and tea, Ben reveals Kate's breakfast makes a rather smelly studio some mornings. He reveals: "When Kate's on she gets eggs that smell really bad first thing in the morning as well! Kate and her eggs, you can imagine it can’t you?"

It comes after the TV presenter exclusively broke silence on rumours he was set to permanently replace Phillip Schofield on This Morning.

When quizzed by the Mirror on the rumours, with Susanna by his side Ben said: "While I'm stood here with Susanna?! What I can tell you is I'm doing some more – I'm gonna be doing some more but I'm just helping out really. So I've got some days coming up between now and Christmas so I'm not exactly sure but I'm still very, very much part of the furniture..." Susanna then added: "He's very loyal."

Ben has been a presenter on Good Morning Britain since 2014, but has been making appearances on This Morning after Phillip Schofield stepped down from his role on the daytime show earlier this year.

Ben reportedly "impressed" directors years ago when covering for Phil between 2005 and 2011. While bosses are said to "love" his partnership with Holly Willoughby after he began stepping in to replace Phillip for the odd occasion on the show.

Despite the claims on Ben stepping up to fill Phil's shoes, ITV have insisted "no such decisions have been made", but a spokesperson did confirm that the network believes Ben is a "popular" presenter ahead of any concrete decision-making.
