Ulrika Jonsson takes savage swipe at Holly Willoughby after This Morning exit

Ulrika Jonnson has appeared to hit out at Holly Willoughby in a savage social media swipe in the wake of the 42-year old's decision to quit This Morning with immediate effect after 14 years. Mum-of-three Holly rocked ITV yesterday citing a "decision for me and my family" in the wake of the arrest of a 36-year-old man, who was charged over an alleged plot to kidnap and murder her.

"I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning," Holly said in an Instagram statement. "To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so so much."

She continued: "This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we’ve done together. Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you. Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You’ve been so loyal, so supportive and the very best company every day. Richard and Judy said 'we only look after this show, it will always belong to the viewers'.

"It’s been an honour to just be part of its story and I know this story has many chapters left to go. Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family. I will miss you all so much."

Former Gladiators presenter Ulrika, meanwhile, later weighed in with her thoughts in a somewhat unorthodox method - posting a cryptic response to a video shared to Instagram by the account, Archbishop of Banterbury. The short clip showed a blonde Wilko employee wandering around an empty store, under the caption: "Holly Willoughby walking round the This Morning studio. End of an era."

Ulrika, 56, responded, quipping: "Or end of an error..." It prompted one user to hail her timing: "Love that you've turned up and dropped an absolutely perfect comment. Another clearly loved the former Shooting Stars' panelist's reply, adding: "Ulrika-ka-ka-ka that was a feisty comment haha."

Whether Ulrika and Holly have any past beef is unknown. The pair have never presented together, though Ulrika did appear as a contestant on Holly-fronted Dancing On Ice in 2007 - finish ninth out of 11 celebrity contestants.
