Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stayed in an exclusive New York hotel during their mental wellness conference, with rooms at a staggering $11,000 (£8,900) per night.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were in the city to speak on a panel at the mental health awareness event run by Project Healthy Minds, which worked in conjunction with the couple’s Archewell Foundation. The festival was held on World Mental Health Day, and Meghan and Harry spoke on the panel about young people and how to improve their mental health.

While in the city, the duo - who are parents to Arhcie, 4, and Lilibet, 2 - stayed in the upscale Equinox Hotel, and after speaking at the event, they were spotted being whisked back to the parking garage of the hotel to stay away from prying eyes. The Equinox boasts state-of-the-art technology in guests’ rooms, as well as the opportunity to book wellness rituals from the comfort of their suite.

The in-room bar has almost 100 products, but rather than focus on booze and salty snacks, it features vitamins and supplements, as well as an exclusive blend of tea designed to improve immunity. And if you’re really in need of a pick me up, the hotel offers an IV drip, called Vitamin Therapy, which they claim can “empower your body”, and can be given in the privacy of your room. If you’re hungry, you can dine at the hotel’s eco-friendly restaurant Electric Lemon, with dishes including deviled crab and dry aged duck.

It’s believed Meghan and Harry stayed in the hotel’s 2,000 sq ft presidential suite, which costs more than $11,000 per night, and boasts a variety of exclusive features such as a cool sleep chamber, a yoga studio and personal filtered water. It also includes acoustically isolated guest bedrooms, and 10ft floor to ceiling windows, giving occupants an unrivalled view of the city.

It’s the first time Meghan and Harry have been back in New York since their “near catastrophic” car chase back in May, as they were allegedly pursued by paparazzi. Speaking to the panel on Tuesday, Harry thanked the audience for coming along, and said his and Meghan’s foundation were working tirelessly on a “community of shared experience” to improve young peoples’ mental health.

“I can’t start without thanking all the parents, the mothers and fathers that have been here today, for being with us physically here today – but also being on this journey for the last year, creating this community of shared experience,” Harry said, as wife Meghan admitted she was left “in tears” after meeting families who were affected by the mental health pandemic.

“As parents, our kids are really young – they’re two-and-a-half and four-and-a-half – but social media is not going away. I think by design, there is an entry point that is supposed to be positive, in creating community and something has devolved, and there is no way to hear that and not try to help these families have their stories be heard,” she added.
