Adam Thomas is keeping an optimistic outlook while battling a health condition that is causing him pain and he has been slotting in treatment while he competes in Strictly Come Dancing.
The 35-year-old former Emmerdale actor is paired with 33-year-old Russian professional dancer Luba Mushtuk on the long-running BBC dance competition. And while they have been gradually impressing the judges on the dancefloor, Adam has also been dealing with a painful health condition.
Earlier this year, the TV star revealed he had been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis - a long-term condition that causes pain, swelling and stiffness in the joints - and has frequently been spotted wearing a support on his wrist. On Tuesday, Adam shared a health update with fans as he took to social media.
Sharing a photograph of himself via Instagram Stories, the actor - who is currently starring in a revived series of hit BBC show Waterloo Road - explained that he was getting some more tests to help better treat his medical condition. The photo showed him in hospital with a strap around his arm and pieces of medical equipment behind him.

It was back in August that Adam first went public with news of his painful health condition - revealing he had been struggling with symptoms since the beginning of the year. He wrote online at the time: “I’ve been in a lot of pain since January, it started with my knees and then traveled to my wrists, fingers and now ankles and toes.
“I never knew what was happening and finally after several blood tests and back and forth to doctors and hospitals, I’ve been diagnosed with rheumatoid Arthritis! I thought that was something people, later on in there life get… but that’s not the case, clearly!”
He went on to explain that he felt his symptoms were improving after he had been diagnosed and granted treatment. And he has been keeping fans and social media followers updated on his progress in the weeks since.
While performing on Strictly, Adam has become one of the contestants that has noticeably improved week on week as he and Luba chase the Glitterball Trophy against a number of other celebs and pro dancers. The duo were left dismayed in week one when the judges provided low scores and they scraped together just 19 points after the four judges gave their verdict.
But in the second week of the contest, their overall score rose to 23 after the judges granted middling marks - while in week three, their scores increased to 25 as all but one judge awarded them a seven for their Jive.
The pair have been safe each week so far - while comedian Les Dennis was the first celebrity victim to be booted from the contest in week two of live shows, and presenter Nikita Kanda was the second star to be scalped by the public vote as she and partner Gorka Márquez were shown the door in week three.
