Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson has undergone a minor operation on his wrist - although he is set to be available for the visit of Arsenal when club football returns after the international break.

The 22-year-old attacker has worn a splint in his past two outings for the Blues after experiencing some discomfort in the area ahead of the 1-0 Carabao Cup triumph over Brighton.

It has since proven to be somewhat of a good luck charm for the £32million summer arrival, who found the net in both matches against the Seagulls and Burnley respectively. Jackson has withdrawn from the Senegal squad for next Monday's friendly with Cameroon and was replaced by Rangers' Abdallah Sima.

The former Villarreal frontman has stayed behind in London to rest and recharge following the small procedure as he bids to continue his encouraging goalscoring form for the Blues.

Mauricio Pochettino's injury-ravaged side have now won three matches on the spin in all competitions having also beaten Fulham in the west London derby at Craven Cottage. Jackson was suspended for the meeting after collecting his fifth top-flight yellow card in the 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in late September. He has found the net three times in nine appearances in all competitions this season.

Raheem Sterling praised his team-mate's impact from the bench following the 4-1 win on the road at Burnley last weekend. The former Manchester City man told BBC Match of the Day after also netting at Turf Moor: “Nicolas Jackson is energetic, he gets about, helps the team defensively and he makes good runs. Grateful that he took his chance."

The Senegal international scored undoubtedly the best goal of his Chelsea career to date when he pirouetted in the penalty box before finishing with aplomb past the helpless James Trafford.

Just hours after being called up to the France squad to replace the injured Jules Kounde, Chelsea defender Axel Disasi was also forced to withdraw with a quadricep problem. The French Football Federation declared in a statement that Disasi has suffered “a tear in the quadriceps of the left thigh” after undergoing scans at Chelsea.

Disasi has been wearing bandage around his left leg in recent matches and the Blues are now waiting to discover the severity of the injury ahead of the London derby against Arsenal on October 21.
