De'Von Achane could be out for a month

The Miami Dolphins are set to be without rookie sensational De'Von Achane after the breakout star suffered a devastating knee injury.

Achane has been incredible in the last few weeks and is currently second in rushing yards with 460 despite having significantly less touches than others in competition for the top spot.

However, the rookie is set to miss as much as four week after injuring his knee in the win over the New York Giants. The injury is not thought to be season-ending, but looks to be significant enough that the Dolphins will place him on Injury Report - which would mean that he'll miss the next four weeks.

Achane is getting a second opinion on his knee injury today, and if nothing changes than he is expected to be put on the list.

The explosive running back did not play at all in the opening week of the season before having just one carry the following game, but quickly earned the starting spot by the third week - and showed why.

In his first start, Achane had 200 rushing yards and four touchdowns, before registering over 100 yards in his last two games - establishing himself as one of the best offensive players in the league so far this year.

Despite having only 38 rushing attempts, Achane is second in the league in yards behind only Christian McCaffery - who has 61 more carries than him so far.

The Dolphins will be dealt a blow by missing Achane, but do have strong replacement options to turn to should his injury be more serious than they had seemingly first thought.

Raheem Mostert has impressed in lieu of Achane, while Jeff Wilson Jr is a similar kind of player to him - with both being speedy running backs who will look for the big play. Elsewhere, the team also have Salvon Ahmed as a running back to use.

The Dolphins have been the highest-scoring offense in the league, and broke the record of most yards and points scored through the first five weeks of the season in NFL history, with head coach Mike McDaniel having an array of options to scheme up plays for, including superstar wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle - while Tua Tagovailoa has started the season strongly.

Miami is unlikely to look at the trade market, despite the likes of Austin Ekeler and Saquon Barkley potentially being available in the coming weeks.
