A dog named Baby Girl was found tied on a fire hydrant with a sad note from her owner nearby.
Baby Girl was found abandoned on the streets of Green Bay, Wisconsin, bound to a fire hydrant with a bag of her belongings and a heartbreaking note from her owner. The Wisconsin Humane Society rescued Baby Girl, who appeared glum and confused and found a letter from her former owner expressing their desperate situation.
Although the exact contents of the letter were not disclosed, it was revealed that the owner, battling homelessness and undergoing cancer treatment, had made the heart-wrenching decision to leave Baby Girl in an act of desperation. The rescuers expressed their gratitude in an open letter, acknowledging the love and care the owner had shown even in their difficult circumstances.

The desperate owner left a heartbreaking letter (Wisconsin Humane Society)"We see your love in the way you secured her leash so she wouldn't get hit by a car. We see your love in the way you placed her in the middle of a neighbourhood where she'd be quickly found. We see your love in how happy and healthy Baby Girl looks. And we see your love in the note you left, pleading for someone to help her when you no longer could," the letter, posted on the Wisconsin Humane Society page on Facebook, read.

The owner, who chose to remain anonymous, later shared with CNN the heartbreaking reasons behind their decision. Despite making numerous calls to find a new home for the 6-year-old dog, they received only rejections. Left with no choice, the owner tearfully tied Baby Girl to the hydrant and ensured she was safe before walking away.
"It was the worst, it was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. She was my life, but I know she's going to be in a better place," the owner revealed.
Upon her rescue, Baby Girl was diagnosed with diabetes mellitus, a condition requiring daily insulin injections, glucose monitoring, and a restricted diet. The medical care, which could cost hundreds of dollars a month, would have been an additional burden for the owner, who was already struggling with homelessness.
Thankfully, Baby Girl's rough patch ended on a happy note, as rescuers announced that she had been adopted. The woman who initially found her wrote in a Facebook post: "Baby Girl has been adopted!!!! I’m so happy she found a home she can thrive in! Lets try and celebrate with happiness and love instead of bitterness towards the previous owners, please!! Being rude gets us nowhere in life."
