Parents 'disgusted' at mum who took teddies away from kids at Build-A-Bear party
Hosting a party for children can be really rewarding and fun, as seeing your little one and their friends all excited and having a great time is heartwarming.
But Mirror readers were left mortified after reading what one mum did when hosting a Build-A-Bear party for her daughter. All of the young guests were invited to make toys, but the parent forced to hand them all over at the end, much to their dismay.
The party was at Build-A-Bear, but wasn't hosted by employees. Taking to Reddit in digsust, a parent of one of the children who were invited wrote: "The invitation said each kid (about 8 total) would get to make a bear, and I just assumed they would get to take them home, since that is what happened at another BAB party I went to." But this wasn't the case at all, and things got a little uncomfortable.
At the end of the party, it was announced that the toys needed to be handed back, and the children were gutted. The mum fumed: "Friend's mum announces that the kids need to give all their animals to her daughter. Cue the upset and angry kids. They all disappointingly handed over their animals, and friend wasn't even being nice about it either. Another little boy didn't want to, and the friend ripped it out of his hands."
Mirror readers did not hold back with their thoughs on the strange birthday party saga, deeming the situation "cruel", "bizarre", "sad", and "just plain weird". One person took to the Mirror's Facebook page to write: "Shocking behaviour, the kids should have kept their bears, it's only fair they all have one each."
Mum's touching gesture to young son who died leaves Morrisons shopper in tears
Someone else said: "Incredibly mean and greedy, plus who would want that many teddies in their house? When my daughter was little she was invited to a party at Build-A-Bear, and when she got there she started crying. I asked her what was wrong and she said this isn't a party it's a shop, well she wasn't wrong lol."
"And she'll wonder why she gets no RSVPs to her 7th birthday party. Good job, mum!", a shocked reader wrote, while another said: "Think it's rather disgusting tbh. You can't do that to small children, they don't understand. And the parents were buying the bears anyway. Their kid didn't need all those bears. I'd have been much happier as the birthday child's parents seeing all the happy wee faces take away their bears."
Another person fumed: "Dang that is messed up. They could have warned the parents what was happening so they had a chance to pay to let their kids build one for themselves and one for their friend. The kids would have loved getting to design two bears knowing one was going to their friend and they got to keep one but the way this went down is just crazy."
