Plane passenger applauded for cutting in the queue when getting on flight
Flying when you know you've got a connecting plane to make can be super stressful, and can leave you anxious whilst on the first flight - especially if you're sat at the back of the plane and you need to be fast. You'd likely assume that your fellow passengers would be kind about your plight if you quickly explained the situation, but one man found his experience was the total opposite.
He had "less than 10 minutes" to make his connecting flight, so had to "sprint off the plane" and "directly" to the next gate, which would be a stressful experience. They shared that "everyone was willing" to let him through until someone confronted him about his plane etiquette.
They took to Reddit to ask others whether they thought he was in the wrong for trying to make his connecting flight. He wrote: "I had a flight yesterday that got delayed, so I had a really tight window to make my connecting flight (like less than 10 minutes). I knew I was gonna basically just have to sprint off the plane and directly to my next gate. Unfortunately, my seat was in the very very back of the (small) plane.
"As soon as the seatbelt light turned off, I jumped out of my seat with my bag and moved toward the front of the plane as fast as I could. I didn't shove anyone out of the way, but I did ask to squeeze by a few people, apologising and explaining that I had a very tight connection. Everyone was willing to let me get through.
"Once I got to the door, some guy behind me started yelling that I 'should just wait my turn' since there are lots of people with tight connections. I explained that I didn't really have time to compare everyone's schedules, but he maintained that I was being an a**hole and should have just waited my turn. Am I the a**hole? Is this some unwritten rule of plane etiquette I didn't know about? I would understand if I was shoving people aside or cutting people who were waiting, but I don't see what's wrong with moving forward in an empty aisle."

In the comments, people said he'd done nothing wrong for trying to make his connection, with one writing: "Not the a**hole, however, next time let the flight attendants know about your incredibly short connection and they may ask everyone to stay seated for 'the person in (seat) who has a 10-minute connection'. Flight attendants have done this for us on two occasions due to weather. They even called ahead to the next flight to let them know we landed and we're running through the airport."
Another commented: "This exact thing happened to me and my husband and baby earlier this year. Delayed flight and we were in the back of the plane. I literally had to run through the airport carrying my four-month-old to try and catch the flight since no one let us off first. We missed being able to catch our flight by two minutes. Then we ended up having an eight-hour layover. Not ideal."
Someone else even shared a time they flew where all the people on the plane took advantage of the flight attendant's kindness, writing: "Today when I landed, they asked everyone to remain in their seats so the passengers with tight connections could deplane first. No one remained seated."
