Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle stood in for Holly Willoughby on Monday's This Morning after she was targeted in an alleged kidnap and murder plot.

Essex Police arrested 36-year-old Gavin Plumb on suspicion of conspiracy to kidnap the presenter on Wednesday night, as officers confirmed an "ongoing investigation". He was charged with soliciting to commit murder and incitement to commit kidnap yesterday. He appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Friday after being held by officers on Wednesday.

It is understood Holly is taking some time away from This Morning and is expected to return after the October half term break. Holly has presented alongside both Josie and Craig in the past so it is not clear which of the presenters stepped in to replace the stalwart.

Craig and Josie did not address Holly's absence on Monday morning, but the ITV show shared their support for the presenter after the news broke on Friday. Addressing Holly's alleged kidnap plot, Alison said: "We're obviously all shocked to hear the news and we want to send our love and biggest hugs to Holly and her family."

Alison and Dermot were joined by Rishi Sunak in the studio on Friday and the Prime Minister shared his support to Holly before the interview. He said: "Before we get going, I was going to say I'm so sorry to hear about everything that is going on with Holly. I wanted to send my best to her and her family and to all of you."

Dermot replied: "Thank you, we appreciate that," as Alison added: "And she will appreciate that as well." This Morning viewers were thrilled to see Josie and Craig together on This Morning and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to comment.

Alongside an image with the phrase "Yes", one viewer tweeted: "Not been on here for a while, HEYYYYYY! Craig and Josie #ThisMorning." And another wrote: "Nice to see Josie and Craig presenting #thismorning."

Someone else shared: "It's a shame Craig and Josie are not permanent, they have much a more natural chemistry than some of the presenter combo's #ThisMorning." A fourth said: "Thank goodness it's Craig and Josie today!! #ThisMorning."
