An American man sent a chilling message to his family before going missing from an Israeli rave.

Hersh Golberg-Polin was at the event when Hamas militants attacked it on Saturday and was celebrating in the desert in northern Negev.

The young American-Israeli sent text massages to his parents which read: “I love you” and “I’m sorry" He then could not be reached and terrifying videos of attackers paragliding into the rave emerged as those attending were kidnapped.

The Hamas militants invaded the party and started attacking those attending according to his father Jonathon who spoke to the Jerusalem Post. He said: “We just want him home and safe,” he added that if he could tell his son anything it would be: “We love you. Come home to us.”

The young man had completed his army service at the end of April and had been celebrating his release. During his service his Dad said he drove tanks in the 7th Armored Brigade before training to become a medic which he found “more interesting than driving a tank.”

Golberg-Polin of Berkely, California, also travelled, went to music festivals and managed to attend a game of the Hapoel Jerusalem football team. He had been working as both a medic and a waiter to try and save up to visit India, which had been a long-time dream of his, his father said.

Hundreds of revellers fled fled the all-night outdoor music festival Saturday when Palestinian militants launched rockets and gunfire.

the moment young Israelis went from enjoying the festival to being under attack was shared widely online as some were kidnapped in the events which followed.

More than 600 people died and nearly 1,600 were hurt in a surprise attack from Hamas which was the worst onslaught Israel has faced in 50 years.

It was coincided with Sichat Torah, a major Jewish holiday and was the 50th anniversary of the 1973 War in which Arab states attacked the country on the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur.

The number of Israeli hostages taken is "many times greater" than Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thinks, claimed a Hamas spokesman.

The leader announced “We are at war ” after fighting broke out and vowed Hamas would pay “a price it has never known.”

The Mirror earlier told how Benjamin Netanyahu ordered his forces to strike Gaza and has told Palestinians to leave the area in retaliation for yesterday's shock attacks by Hamas.

Israel has since launched hundreds of relentless retaliatory strikes on Gaza, killing around 250 Palestinians and injuring more then a thousand more. One air raid on the besieged area flattened a tower in the heart of Gaza City as large-scale fighting between Palestinian fighters and the Israeli military continued.
