Jadon Sancho is set to be offered a career lifeline away from Manchester United as his first-team exile continues.

The pressure on United and manager Erik ten Hag was eased in the most dramatic of circumstances on Saturday, with Scott McTominay twice striking in injury time to seal a 2-1 win over Brentford. But Sancho wasn't part of it, with the forward having been frozen out since his public spat with the Dutch boss last month.

The saga ignited when the 23-year-old was omitted from the match day squad against Arsenal last month, with Ten Hag later attributing the decision to the player's poor training performances. Sancho took to social media to respond, claiming he was being made a 'scapegoat' for the club's struggles.

And having refused to apologise since, it appears there is no way back for the England international, who arrived from Borussia Dortmund for £73million in the summer of 2021. He was initially linked with a move back to the German club, but now Serie A appears his most likely destination.

According to the Sun, Juventus are planning to offer the star a loan deal in January, with a view to a permanent move next summer. The reported £60million fee would still represent a sizeable return for United given the 23-year-old's lack of impact the last two years.

The Italian giants will initially propose to cover half of his £350,00-a-week wages. And Ten Hag will no doubt be keen to get the player off the books, given his summer spending was capped by FFP regulations.

Sancho initially spent four years with Dortmund, scoring 50 times in 137 appearances. His promising displays in the delayed Euro 2020 tournament prompted Ole Gunner Solskjaer to bring him to Old Trafford amid a much-publicised move, but he struggled to produce his best form in his first two seasons in Manchester.

The exit of Cristiano Ronaldo last January seemingly paved the way for more opportunities, but he could only appear as a late substitute in the League Cup final win over Newcastle. And his international career has also stalled, with Gareth Southgate overlooking him for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Juventus currently lie third in Serie A following their 2-0 win over Torino. And their squad depth has been hampered by the failed doping test of Paul Pogba, who no faces a four year ban.
