Victoria Beckham details surprise 'second wedding' after David affair claims

Victoria Beckham has opened up about the aftermath of the affair allegations made by Rebecca Loos against David Beckham in 2003.

The 49-year-old former Spice Girl, who was better known by Posh Spice, appeared on US talk show Today with Hoda & Jenna to promote the Netflix docuseries about her former England football captain husband.

The couple had a rocky few weeks after the affair claims were made in a newspaper interview by Loos, which David has always denied and branded "ludicrous" at he time.

Victoria said that David made a decision to reaffirm his dedication to his wife as a show of where his heart still lied. Speaking on the NBC show, Victoria said that he had planned a special ceremony for her.

The fashion designer and mum-of-four said: "We were doing school on Monday and David said we had to go somewhere for the afternoon. We land in London, get off the plane and were met by the same car that drove us on our wedding day. We got remarried with the priest that married us all those years ago! think how can this get any better? We get on the plane and we fly to Paris, where we had a 24-hour honeymoon and we stayed in Suite 302."

The romantic gesture had previously been revealed by David when he spoke about it on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs in 2017. The football icon said then: "We have renewed our vows since [our first wedding]. It was a lot more private, about six people there in our house."

Victoria also spoke about the affair scandal in the docuseries and described it as a moment when it was them against the world. The former Spice Girl said: "It was the hardest period [for them as a couple] because it felt like the world was against us. Here’s the thing — we were against each other if I’m being completely honest. You know, up until Madrid sometimes it felt like us against everybody else but we were together, we were connected, we had each other.

"But when we were in Spain, it didn’t really feel like we had each other either. And that’s sad. I can’t even begin to tell you how hard it was and how it affected me. It was a nightmare. It was an absolute circus — and everyone loves it when the circus comes to town right? Unless you’re in it."

Rebecca now lives in Norway has told Sky that she now regrets that the story came out in the first place. She said: "I don't expect any sympathy from Victoria at all. I think it's bad enough for me to do what I have done without me expecting any words of sympathy. I really hope that they get through it… I in no way intended to break up their marriage, especially when there are young children involved. I hope they stay together."
