Big Brother's iconic Diary Room Chair gets revamp ahead of new series

Big Brother's iconic Diary Room Chair has been revealed ahead of its return this weekend.

ITV have released a first look at the hot seat, ahead of the show's comeback on Sunday night. After five years off screens, the hit show is back and one of its most recognisable features has had a vibrant makeover. The brand-new Diary Room Chair is made from 100% post-consumer recycled polyester and features bold shades of pink, orange and yellow. It is in the shape of the all-seeing Big Brother eye.

It will play host to the show's most intimate moments as housemates head into the Diary Room to reveal all. They will sit in the curved chair and speak directly with Big Brother to discuss the latest antics from the house. Contestants will also use the room to cast nominations on their fellow housemates.

This Sunday hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best will be on hand at a top secret London location to welcome the housemates through the doors as they say goodbye to the outside world and hello to their Big Brother experience. After the launch, which will air on ITV, ITV2 and ITVX, viewers will be able to catch up to with the goings on in the house nightly at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX (apart from Saturdays).

ITV bosses have promised the new stars of the show - who will be following the footsteps of legendary housemates including Jady Goody, Alison Hammond and Nikki Graham - will be from all walks of life and a range of ages.

While the house has undergone a full revamp, viewers will recognise many features from the original series - gruelling tasks, nail-biting nominations and live evictions. Fans will have full power as they will vote on their favourites throughout the series before eventually deciding the winner who will take away a huge cash prize.

Big Brother will be followed each night by Big Brother: Late & Live - recorded on the site of the Big Brother house in front of a studio audience. Big Brother: Late & Live will be the only place to watch the evictees first live interview alongside an array of unmissable exclusive features including access to the camera runs, celebrity guest commentary and debate plus weekly nomination results.

The iconic Big Brother: Live Stream also makes its return to screens, airing seven nights a week exclusively on ITVX, giving fans the opportunity to watch live footage into the small hours after Big Brother: Late & Live.

Big Brother first aired in the UK on Channel 4 and ran for a total of 11 series, plus 7 series of Celebrity Big Brother and a final special edition series entitled Ultimate Big Brother. The show subsequently aired for a further 8 series on Channel 5, with an additional 15 celebrity series, before going on hiatus in 2018. The upcoming 2023 series on ITV2 and ITVX will mark the first time Big Brother returns to UK screens in almost five years.

Big Brother: The Launch airs Sunday 8th October at 9pm on ITV1, STV, ITV2 and ITVX.
