Tyreek Hill has been slapped with a $7,000 (£5,700) fine after breaking a bizarre NFL rule during the Miami Dolphin's dominant win over the Denver Broncos in Week 3. The wide receiver put in an impressive display in the team's 70-20 triumph at Hard Rock Stadium, with the Dolphins becoming only the third team in NFL history to hit the 70+ point mark.

Hill's performance was instrumental with nine catches for 157 yards and a touchdown. But it was a game that would ultimately prove very costly thanks to an unknown rule, despite the wide receiver being on a staggering £98 million contract with the team.

In an interview with The Palm Beach Post, Hill revealed that he was fined for not wearing socks during the game. The NFL star was seen without the appropriate uniform as he scored on a 54-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Addressing the claims, he said: “Yeah, I got fined for my socks.

“So, in the Broncos game, the first touchdown, I didn’t have any socks on at all. But I was getting an IV and I didn’t want to be late for the play. So I didn’t have time to put on my socks.”

“It was like $7,000, but I’m appealing and when I appeal it’s probably going to get reduced," he added.

The high-scoring win over the Broncos saw the Dolphins full of confidence heading into the following game where they faced the in-form Buffalo Bills. The game at Highmark Stadium ended in a 48-20 defeat, with Hill only registering three catches for 58 yards before suffering a knee injury.

Speaking on the 'It Needed To Be Said' podcast, the wide receiver is confident that he won't miss any games. "I'll be good, though. The way I operate, the way I take care of my body, I'll be back in no time," he said. "I'm like Wolverine, I'm like Logan, baby, I never get injured."

"I told myself I can't go back in, man. My knee hurting, and I don't want to put no more pressure on it," he added.

Despite the defeat, the 29-year-old believes that the result will spur the team to perform better in the coming weeks.

"We still got a young team, man," Hill said after the game as quoted by ESPN. "And obviously, I mean you never want to lose a game in the NFL, but we kind of needed this -- early adversity is always good and we definitely can learn from it and stick together as a team moving forward."

The sentiment was echoed by Dolphins cornerback Kader Kohou, who added: "Just like when you have good games, you can't let it get to your head -- so I don't let bad games get to my head.

"It was a bad game for sure, but I still got 13 more. If I let this game dictate the rest of my season, I'm going to have a terrible season."
