Kylian Mbappe is not being allowed to forget his miserable night at Newcastle, with bakery chain Greggs now ruthlessly trolling the PSG star.

Mbappe was dreadful in PSG's dismal 4-1 battering at the hands of the Magpies in the Champions League on Wednesday. He played all 90 minutes at St James' Park, but had just one shot and barely troubled the Newcastle defence.

The Toon were fully deserving of their thumping win, which only added to PSG's woes this season, with the French side having won just four of their opening nine games of the season. And some have reacted with glee at both PSG's and Mbappe's struggles.

One Newcastle fans tweeted a picture of Mbappe looking dejected with the caption: "I was confident about a win, as I went with a predicted 2-1. The team was just showing off last night though.

"This fella was just thinking about Greggs steak bakes all night. Right there, he was caught licking his lips thinking of his next one."

The bakery brand did not resist the chance to pile the misery on Mbappe, quote-tweeting that post by writing: "He’s welcome to come 4-1 this morning…". That trolling only adds to Mbappe's problems.

The superstar attacker was given a rating of just 2/10 by French newspaper L'Equipe. The outlet claimed that Mbappe "almost did not exist" and he was "very disappointing" during the first-half.

The reigning French champions were well beaten by Eddie Howe's side on Wednesday. Miguel Almiron, Dan Burn, Sean Longstaff and Fabian Schar all scored to seal a thumping win for the dominant hosts.

Theo Hernandez scored a consolation just before the hour mark, though by that point the game was all but over. And boss Luis Enrique struggled to hide his disappointment at another poor result.

"It wasn't the match we wanted to play, obviously. I saw a good team, especially at the start when we created chances in the opposition's box. We weren't sharp enough and we paid for our mistakes, the errors we made when we had the ball," he said.

"I'm not going to say it was unfair, because Newcastle are a great team who played very well and deserved to win - but not to score four goals. We're going to use this game to reassess, and we'll see how we approach the games we have ahead of us.

"And I can't wait to play them again in Paris. We always analyse a match once it's over. I'm sad for the fans. This is the Champions League; when you make a mistake, you pay for it. We're second in the group and there are still a lot of games to play. Obviously, it's still difficult."
