Kim Kardashian has opened up on why she still stands by and supports NBA player Tristan Thompson, despite his cheating and break ups with her sister Khloe Kardashian.

Khloe and Tristan's relationship has been a rollercoaster with the athlete cheating on Khloe at numerous points in their on and off again romance, but she and her sister Kim have made it clear they will not cut ties with him.

Speaking on the new series of The Kardashians, Kim explained her reasons for defending the star despite his cheating. Speaking on the new series, Kim told the camera: "I know you guys are gonna hate me for this, and you're gonna hate us, and you're gonna think Khloé's whatever. It’s so crazy because he’s such a good friend, and he’s such a good dad, but he just couldn’t get it together in that area of being a faithful boyfriend.

"You want to obviously hate him for that. Yeah, of course, his actions and who he was are so f---ed up, I can't deny that, and we've had our talks about it and had our fights about it... but he’s also shown so many decent things and has been a really good person and friend."

She also explained how in the wake of her split from ex husband Kanye West, Tristan provided support for her. She said: "He started showing up to the games. He picks Saint up, takes them to dinner, and will always come to my defence, especially if it’s stuff with like me and my ex, and I just never forgot that. So I’ll never really throw someone away and act like I don’t feel like they can grow and evolve."

In the season three finale of The Kardashians, Khloe revealed that she has let Tristan move into her home with their two children True and Tattum. Yet she's made it clear that she isn't reconciling or in a new relationship with him as she explained: "I’m not naive to the fact that my ex-boyfriend is living in my house. I never wanna be someone that anyone can accuse that I misled them when it comes to love. I’m so adamant about that because I’ve been on the receiving end of it, and I just don’t think love is something to play with."

She later added that she can't bring herself to start up a relationship again as she added: "I love love, and I am a hopeless romantic, but that’s not gonna change how I feel and what happened."
