Love Island's Jess takes swipe at Sammy as she breaks silence on split
Love Island star Jess Harding shared a cryptic message about the real reason behind her and split with Sammy Root.
The couple were crowned the winners of the latest season of the ITV reality dating show in August, bagging a cash prize of £50,000 after winning the public vote. Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Sammy and Jess, both 22, had gone their separate ways after just three months together.
Sources close to the pair initially claimed Jess had instigated the break-up after realising shea and Sammy were "better off as friends". The beauty therapist, who headed straight off on a lavish trip to Ibiza with her girlfriends after the split has now returned and took part in a honest Q&A session with her 845,000 followers on Instagram. One curious follower seized the opportunity to ask what really led to the break-up.

A fan asked why the duo broke up (Instagram/@jesshardingox)"It's been over a week now since we split, so I'm getting there," Jess explained. "We shared a once-in-a-lifetime experience together, so of course I'm sad." Another follower questioned why the duo broke up. Jess remained cryptic and revealed: "I really don't want to go into detail by making a big statement, but we're just very different and behave differently and that's it."
Sammy addressed the split on social media earlier this week. "I thought I would come online to address today's news about me and Jess," he wrote on his Stories feature, before suggesting he had been blindsided by the separation. "Yes we had a private conversation regarding our relationship but this was left up in the air as Jess is still away and we haven't had a chance to speak in person."

He admitted it was a "total shock" to see the news of their break up online. "To be totally clear - I at least wanted a face-to-face conversation to see if our relationship could be saved and felt this would be the respectful way forward," Sammy continued. "We had the most incredible experience winning Love Island and I genuinely saw a future with Jess. I was committed and respectful of our relationship. Unfortunately, things don't always work out the way you'd hoped. Despite how this has all played out today, I think Jess is an amazing woman and genuinely wish her all the best."
Fans have been speculating about their relationship for quite some time as they noticed the duo hadn't posted snaps of each other on social media for a couple of weeks. Sammy and Jess's last appearance was at The Sun's Who Cares Gives Awards in London on September 19. They also attended the National Television Awards together on September 5.
