David Beckham revealed the trait that Messi has been teaching Miami's youngsters

David Beckham has detailed how Lionel Messi has thrown himself into sharing his unique genius with the next generation since moving to Inter Miami.

After winning a staggering seven Ballon d'Ors during his glittering career, the Argentine icon is better placed than anyone to offer advice to talented youngsters. It would appear that the World Cup winner is already making inroads when it comes to passing on his wisdom to Miami's upcoming prospects.

His kind acts towards the club's academy players were first revealed by co-owner Beckham, who was struck by the ingenuity of his advice. The former England captain outlined Messi's unsung dedication to helping those starlets improve while speaking on Gary Neville's "Stick to Football" podcast.

With Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright and Jill Scott present for the roundtable discussion, he detailed the unforeseen ways the former Barcelona star has helped to transform the club. He said: "To bring someone like him to the club, we knew it would change the club and we knew it would change the league and the sport.

Making sure to give credit to Miami's other galactico additions, he added: "But it’s beyond that, What he does on the pitch, what he does off the pitch, for the young kids – to bring somebody in like him is the dream, also Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets."

Beckham went on to recall one standout instance where Messi coached the youngsters how to essentially mirror one of his traits. Famed for his ability to go under the radar before striking with devastating effect, he gave the prospects some advice on how to mimic this.

The former Manchester United hero said: "To bring in Leo has changed everything. The academy kids have someone to look up to, who has done everything, won everything, and he’s teaching them, which is amazing.

"There was an interview the other day with one of the academy kids, who is doing well, and they turned round to him and said, ‘what’s the best bit of advice that Leo has given you so far?’

"And he said, ‘to walk more’. He said ‘to walk more because you see more’ so it’s already started with the good that he does. It’s incredible."

The signing of Messi has proved to be an inspired move by Beckham and his partners at DRV PNK Stadium, with the former PSG and Barcelona man having settled into life in the US. The 36-year-old already has one winners' medal in the form of the Leagues Cup, but fell short is the US Open Cup final after defeat to Houston Dynamo.
