Meghan Markle treated like 'convicted felon' by Prince William amid royal family feud

Prince William was reported to have treated his sister-in-law Meghan Markle as a "convicted felon", according to Prince Harry.

The fall out between Prince Harry and Prince William has been widely reported, with Prince William reported to be wary of Meghan Markle due to her role as a an actress. Prince William is said to have felt she 'would find it difficult' to join the British Monarchy and fit into the royal family.

Writing in his memoir Spare, Harry wrote that Prince William told his little brother: "She’s an actress, after all, Harold. Anything can happen."

Harry also recalled discussing his plans to propose with older brother Prince William. William was said to have been “concerned” and told his younger brother he was taking things “a bit too far”.

In his book, Harry wrote: “It's too fast, he'd told me. Too soon. In fact, he'd actually been pretty discouraging about my even dating Meg.

"One day, sitting together in his garden, he'd predicted a host of difficulties I could expect if I hooked up with an 'American actress', a phrase he always managed to make sound like a 'convicted felon'."

In their shared documentary series Harry & Meghan, Harry shared: “I remember my family first meeting her and being incredibly impressed. Some of them didn’t quite know what to do with themselves. Because, I think, they were surprised. They were surprised that a ginger could land such a beautiful woman and such an intelligent woman.

"But the fact I was dating an American actress was probably what clouded their judgment more than anything else at the beginning. 'Oh, she’s an American actress; this won’t last.'"

Prince Harry is now reportedly seeking a return to his old lifestyle and potentially rejoin the royal family, which is also rumoured to be causing issues for his relationship with wife Meghan. It's thought the former Suits star and actress is finding the prince's thoughts "frustrating" as he apparently yearns for a return to London. Meghan is said to be firmly wanting to leave that chapter of their life behind them, and is pushing ahead with a potential career move into politics in the states.

The Duchess of Sussex has been tipped to enter the race for the vacant Senator's seat following the death of Dianne Feinstein. According to a major Democratic donor close to Californian Governor Gavin Newsom, who is set to choose Feinstein's replacement, the possibility of the Duchess of Sussex running is not impossible. Although a long-shot replacement for the 90-year-old pioneer, there is speculation Meghan could serve out the remaining 13 months of Feinstein's term.
