In 2004 the now 48-year-old England football star was hit with claims he had an affair with Rebecca, 46, who alleged she had a relationship with him while he was playing for Real Madrid. David, who was hit with allegations of affairs with other women, described the claims as "ludicrous" at the time.
Rebecca described herself as David's "second wife" and made a number of TV and public appearances after making the allegations including Celebrity Love Island and The Farm.
Speaking for the first time about how the affair allegations rocked their marriage, David and Victoria said that they were almost 'torn apart' by it. Rebecca, now 46, sold stories about an alleged affair with the former England captain when she worked as his PA following his move from Manchester United to Real Madrid.
"There were some horrible stories that were difficult to deal with. It was the first time that me and Victoria had been put under that kind of pressure in our marriage," David said.
Meanwhile Victoria said: "It was the hardest period for us. Because it felt like the world was against us. And here's the thing; we were against each other, if I'm being completely honest. You know, up until Madrid sometimes it felt like us against everybody else. But we were together. We were connected. We had each other."
Revealing an alleged affair, something David has always furiously denied, Rebecca detailed the reported romance to News of the World before signing up for several reality TV shows, as well as posing topless for lads' mags, including Zoo and Playboy.
David and Victoria have admitted their marriage came close to breaking down with Posh saying tearfully, "We were against each other."
The couple, known as Posh and Becks, spoke in-depth for the first time about their previous relationship problems and at the peak of the crisis, Beckham said it felt like they were "drowning" and he confessed: "I don't know how we got through it."
Their new Netflix series shows newspapers on screen covering the 2004 allegations made by his former assistant Rebecca Loos. The PA for the footballer claimed she had an affair with Beckham whilst he was playing for Real Madrid. Other women made other allegations too, all of which Beckham described as "ludicrous" at the time.
In the documentary, director Fisher Stevens asks 48-year-old Beckham: "Multiple tabloid stories broke, and how did you deal with that? Beckham replied: "There were some horrible stories that were difficult to deal with. It was the first time that me and Victoria had been put under that kind of pressure in our marriage."

Stevens then asks former Spice Girl Victoria, 49, if that was the hardest time in their marriage. She replies: "100 percent. It was the hardest period for us. Because it felt like the world was against us. And here's the thing; we were against each other, if I'm being completely honest. You know, up until Madrid sometimes it felt like us against everybody else. But we were together. We were connected. We had each other.
"But when we were in Spain, it didn't really feel that we had each other either. And that's sad. I can't even begin to tell you how hard it was and how it affected me."
David left 'clinically depressed' after World Cup red card
David Beckham was left 'clinically depressed' over the horrific 'public bullying' he was subjected to after England's defeat against Argentina in the 1998 World Cup.
Wife Victoria has said that 'she still wants to kill' those who lashed out at her husband with vitriol over his now-infamous red card moment, which led to England losing on penalties.
Posh Spice detailed how David became clinically depressed from the hate after the game when he received hate from fans. Recalling the barrage of abuse that followed, she said: “I mean, the absolute hate, the public bullying, to another level. He was depressed, absolutely clinically depressed. I still want to kill these people.”
Victoria told David she was pregnant the night before the World Cup red card (Netflix)During the documentary series, Victoria revealed she dropped the news of her pregnancy to David the night before his infamous red card moment in 1998.
Before David and the England team played against Argentina at the 1998 World Cup, Posh Spice told him she was pregnant with their eldest son, Brooklyn. During the unforgettable football game, David received a red card which led to England losing on penalties.
In a new Netflix documentary, Victoria discussed the eve of the match and recalled the moment she called David to reveal the news they were expecting a child. She made the call while she was in Brooklyn, New York, cementing the name of their child - who is now married to Nicola Peltz.
According to Victoria, David wanted to leave the game to be with her but wasn't able to. Speaking to the camera, she said: "I told David the night before the game. He was so, so happy, we both were and there was never any doubt in my mind that I should tell him. I mean, it was what we wanted and he could not have been happier.”
Director Fisher Stevens asked her: "So you tell him right before the biggest game of his life — did you think it would help him?" She responded honestly: "I don't really know." David then said: "Before the Argentina game, she phoned me and said I’ve just taken a test and I’m pregnant. So I found out then.
"The first thing I wanted to do (was get out of there and be with Victoria) but I couldn’t, we were in a major tournament."
Worried David Beckham slept on the floor by the hospital door on the night his son Brooklyn was born - after death threats gave him fears over his family's safety.
At the time the former England captain was hated by a section of the public for his World Cup red card against Argentina in 1998 and he was regularly abused in the street, with one crazed fan even sending a bullet in the post to Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium.
Reflecting on that time and the birth of first child Brooklyn in March 1999 at London's Portland hospital, Beckham said: "The moment he came out, I all of sudden thought 'how am I going to protect him?'. "That night Brooklyn slept next to Victoria. Victoria was like 'come on squeeze on the bed with me’ and I was like 'absolutely not, I'm sleeping with my head against the door'. “Because I was paranoid that someone was gonna steal him.
"It's meant to be a happy moment. And it was a happy moment of course. But I was worried. "I didn't want him to come into this life, at a time where I was going through what I was going through." Victoria added: "We were getting kidnapping threats, right from when we had Brooklyn. "I mean, you can't even explain how that feels, because we couldn't hide."
And Beckham said: "When there were kidnap threats, that was when it got scary."
David Beckham has revealed he had to be "held back" from attacking Sir Alex Ferguson when he was hit by a flying football boot in 2003.
The famous incident saw Beckham end up with a cut above his eye after Manchester United boss Sir Alex kicked the book across the dressing room in fury after defeat against Arsenal in 2003. It happened as the relationship between Sir Alex and David soured and photos afterwards showed Beckham with butterfly stitches.
The full details have finally emerge dand both confirm they were rowing and swearing at each other at the time. Beckham said: "From what I remember we lost against Arsenal. We walked into the changing room and the boss is fuming, I can see by his face. And when you see the boss' face like that you don't want to be anywhere near him."
Striker Ole Gunnar Solskjær added: "It was my boot! And he starts F-ing and blinding on David." Beckham added: "He says you didn't follow your runner and I went back at the boss. I said 'no'. Then I swore and said the F word and then I saw him change and I was like 's*** I really shouldn't have said that'. I think I said the F word too many times and then...."
Albert Morgan, United's Kitman from 1996-2013, explained: "Sir Alex was doing his debrief. He comes flying across, in a rage and kicks out at these load of clothes and the boot shot up. It just clipped David just above the eye. He couldn't do it again if he had tried. The boss was absolutely gutted because he's not a man like that. It was only a nick, it wasn't worth a stitch. The only thing I'll say is it was stage managed. It wasn't worth a stitch."
Sir Alex plays down the incident in the documentary. He said: "I kicked a boot and it hit him in the head. I mean honestly, it was an absolute freak."
Beckham added: "It didn't look pretty. I remember a player coming up to me that week and saying the boss has turned around to the doctor and said he's been making it worse, and I didn't. I wasn't." Their relationship continued to get worse and Beckham was dropped for the next big Champions League tie against Real Madrid leaving him "furious".
