Meghan Markle allegedly chose to reinvent herself as a Hollywood power player over being a part of the Royal Family, according to an expert on the monarchy.
Back in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan announced they were stepping back from their roles as senior royals, and relocated to California after the couple accused the British media of racist behaviour toward the Duchess of Sussex. Harry then blasted Buckingham Palace for their lack of support, and seemingly severed ties with his family as he and Meghan settled in the US.
Their explosive tell-all interview in 2021 with Oprah Winfrey cemented their separation from the Royal Family, and Harry has subsequently been sidelined from the monarchy, even being forced to take a minor role at the funeral of his beloved grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, last year.

According to author Andrew Morton, who has previously written a book on the former actress, said the Suits star is “making her own life on the West Coast” and has cut ties with the royals for good.
“The royal family is very much in the rearview mirror of her life. She’s moved on,” he told Fox News Digital, and claimed Meghan would be relaunching her lifestyle website The Tig. The platform was created in 2014, and was inspired by the Italian wine Tignanello, but Meghan shut it down when he began dating Harry in 2017.

Andrew claimed that the mother-of-two is going to start a “new updated version” of The Tig in her latest effort to establish herself as Hollywood royalty, after their multi-million dollar deal with Spotify crumbled earlier this year. “So I think (the Duke and Duchess of Sussex) got their own lives, and they’ve worked it out. And every day that passes, they’re more established in California,” he explained.

He said Meghan has “never really embraced the rules and rituals of the Royal Family”, and touched upon her admission in the couple's Netflix documentary as she confessed she didn’t know she had to curtsy to the Queen in private. “She’s a celebrity,” he added, noting that there was “no love lost” between Meghan and her sister-in-law Catherine, Princess of Wales.
