Coleen Rooney's marriage to Wayne 'strained' as she opens 'old wounds' with book

Coleen Rooney’s marriage to Wayne is "strained" ahead of her book release, it has been reported.

The 37-year-old is set to release a tell-all memoir which will delve into the details of the Wagatha Christine trial and the ups and downs of her marriage.

It has been said that Wayne, also 37, isn't looking forward to his infidelities being unearthed once again, with Coleen opening up about their rocky marriage. However, this isn't the only time Coleen has talked about Wayne's cheating as she spoke to British Vogue magazine that their marriage had been a "battle at times".

Despite it being out in the open, Wayne is not keen on receiving more backlash. Now working as football manager for a US team, Wayne is said to want to keep the past in the past.

A source has claimed to OK! magazine: "They’re in a good place now and it’s widely known they have been through a difficult time in the past. Their marriage has been under immense strain even in recent times, but they have come out stronger. Whenever his infidelities are mentioned, understandably people start talking about it, which leads to lots of unkind comments online. He would rather leave it in the past.

"The last thing Wayne wants is to get flak from the guys at work over his personal life. Footballers love banter and, as the boss, he doesn’t want to be at the centre of any jokes. This book will obviously bring back bad memories and open up old wounds, and Wayne isn’t keen on more marriage bombshells being talked about."

Back in 2010 Wayne was hit with allegations that he's cheated on Coleen with two sex workers while she was pregnant with their first child Kai, who is now 13.

Wayne went on to apologise for the situation in the Prime Video documentary Rooney when he said: "When you’re in the wrong place and there’s alcohol involved, then you’re going to make bad decisions and you’re going to have to suffer the consequences. That’s what happens. That doesn’t take away any of my love for Coleen. I held my hands up and we worked through it."
