Whether you're learning to drive or consider yourself an expert at the wheel, many drivers don't understand what every road sign means.
In fact, a staggering three-quarters of motorists struggle to remember all of the signs found in the Highway Code after passing their test. Fortunately, a driving theory expert has deciphered one common sign that baffles motorists.
Drivers far and wide would have come across the puzzling "no return within one hour" road sign, but many have admitted to being unsure what this actually means. Driving guru Annie has disentangled the meaning of the bewildering sign.
Speaking to her impressive 926,000 TikTok followers, the expert - who goes by @theorytestpractice online - said: "I've been asked to explain signs like this one. This sign is saying that between Monday and Saturday, you can park between 8 o'clock in the morning and 6 o'clock at night, but only for one hour.
"No return within one hour - that simply means that you're not allowed to drive out of your parking space, drive around the block, and go straight back into that parking space. Well, not for an hour anyway," she added. In the post's caption, she clarified the rule, saying: "At other times you can park for as long as you want to."

Relieved followers headed to the comments to commend Annie for the insightful information, as many admitted to never understanding the sign. One user penned: "I never got the no return within 1 hour! Thanks for that!"
Another echoed: "Thank u for explaining this, I don't understand it lol." A third confessed: "Not me thinking I had to stay out for an hour, like can't just park there for 5 mins," while another quipped: "I always thought no return within one hour meant you're not allowed to come back to the car for at least an hour lol."
Annie has amassed a large following thanks for her informative driving videos which are designed to help people pass their theory test. Recent GOV.UK data has revealed that in the year ending March 2022, 64.9% of people passed the multiple choice section in the test, while 83.4 were successful in the hazard perception section.
