Strictly star Les Dennis' very rare confession about ex-wife Amanda Holden
Les Dennis and Amanda Holden were the couple everyone was talking about in the early noughties when they decided to split following the explosive revelations she was having an affair with Neil Morrissey two years earlier.
The Family Fortunes star and actor married the Britain’s Got Talent judge in 1995, when he was 40 and she was just 22. It came out that Amanda had an affair with the Men Behaving Badly actor, Neil, in 2000 after they starred together in the BBC's Happy Birthday Shakespeare, leaving the couple facing a rocky two years before eventually splitting in 2002.
In the 69-year-old Coronation Street actor's memoir Must The Show Go On?, Les revealed that he knew their relationship was finally over when he left Celebrity Big Brother and realised Amanda had left him a taped message, rather than speak to him live on his exit. But more recently, the star has opened up about the relationship and made a rather rare confession.

"Amanda was in the papers recently, saying some nice things about me,” he said. “That was very kind of her. Maybe with time she has been able to look back and see things differently."
Despite what happened, Les said he was even happy to watch Amanda on TV, adding: "We're not in touch but I am happy that she's happy. I can watch Britain's Got Talent without getting angry. To be honest, it's like watching a different person, someone I've never met. All the hurt that has happened has been healed."

Les - who is now married to his third wife, Claire Nicholson, with whom he shares two children with, Eleanor and Thomas - even considered the prospect of Amanda playing herself in the movie of his life. Speaking on the White Wine Question Time podcast, Les opened up about the idea of a hypothetical biopic to Kate Thornton saying: "I suppose Amanda would have to be there.
He added: “It's a chapter in my life that was huge, and I have no idea who to cast in that role." Kate suggested: "I think she could probably pull that one off herself”, to which Les replied: "Maybe, maybe yes."

(BBC/Ray Burmiston)While Les may be open to watching ex Amanda on television, he is fully focused on learning routines for Strictly, alongside his pro partner, Nancy Xu. Performing the tango with Nancy to Don’t You Want Me by the Human League -which saw Les serving up a cocktail during his first live dance - scored him 16 out of 40.
Before the show kicked off and Les was announced in the celebrity line-up, Les said he ‘couldn’t wait’ to get dancing. In a statement, he said: "I'm thrilled to be doing this iconic wonderful show as I approach my 70th birthday! In my career I've always gone for challenges outside my comfort zone, and this is the ultimate one! Can't wait."
