Laurence Fox's millionaire donor vows to keep bankrolling star after sexism row
The millionaire tycoon behind Laurence Fox's political party has refused to pull the plug despite the actor's vulgar attack on a female journalist.
Super-rich Brexit donor Jeremy Hosking has bankrolled Fox's Reclaim party to the tune of more than £2million. Steam train fanatic Mr Hosking, 65, said he would continue to back the party after Fox, 45, apologised for his highly offensive comments on GB News. He was suspended - along with show host Dan Wootton - after making sexual remarks about political reporter Ava Evans.
Mr Hosking, reportedly worth £375m, insisted: "As the backer of a party whose very point is to fight cancel culture, I will not be defunding its leader. That said, it was right that Laurence apologised. He’s not the first person to think he was being funny while actually being rude."Cancel culture is unforgiving. Standing up to it demands we shouldn’t be.”

Ms Evans said the comments made her feel "physically sick" and revealed she had since received abuse and threats over social media.
Ofcom launched a formal investigation over Fox's remarks after receiving more than 7,300 complaints. Fox apologised in a video posted online on Friday. He said: "I could have and should have expressed it better. It's not right, it's demeaning to Ava, so I'm sorry for demeaning you in that way."
