Being rejected from Big Brother was reportedly a 'bitter pill to swallow' for presenter and radio host Rylan Clark after he set his sights on presenting the show.

The revamped version of the reality series is set to make a comeback to our screens this month and will be fronted by AJ Odudu and Will Best. Rylan won Celebrity Big Brother in 2013 and presented the Big Brother spin-off series for five years after finding fame on The X Factor.

While his famous stint made him the perfect candidate for the role, producers took a different direction and instead recruited AJ and Will for the gig. But according to a source, the rejection hasn't kept Rylan down for long as he continues to enjoy working with his beloved mum Linda on Celebrity Gogglebox.

A source told OK! Magazine: "He was a bit hurt they didn’t consider him to come back as he lives and breathes Big Brother, it was a bitter pill to swallow, but he’s very good at picking himself up and brushing himself off. Rylan loves working with him mum and there's loads coming up. She's a great support network and it really takes his mind of it when they do shows like Gogglebox together, they're so close."

Recently, Rylan Clark shared an update on his mum Linda's health after she suffered a horror fall while they were abroad together. During his appearance on ITV's Loose Women on Tuesday, he said: "She tripped on up the smallest link between like two tiles and unfortunately she broke her leg, she broke her arm and I thought in my optimistic mind, 'It's fine, we'll still be able to fly on Thursday we can get her seen [by a doctor] at home.'

"Next thing, I'm there for another week, I’m booking private jets, it's got to be a medical jet – it's been a nightmare to be honest. But, she's good, she's at home watching now. We did have to go to the hospital because she's got another surgery. She went to see the surgeon over here and she's going to have another surgery at the end of this week and then we can get her on the move."

Rylan, 34, and Linda joined the show in 2019 and took part in two series before the pair took a break in 2021. Their commentary and funny moments have been a hit with viewers - particularly when Linda let slip Rylan's real name while they were sat on their sofa.
