As the days and nights start to get colder some households may find themselves battling condensation and damp as they keep windows closed to trap warm air inside, but there's an unwelcomed side effect that's a nightmare to get rid of. Black mould, and if left untouched it can spread quickly, affecting other areas of your home.

Condensation is a common bugbear for many in winter as warm air mixes with much colder surfaces and an increased amount of it can lead to mould growth on ceilings, windows and even furniture. Now, cleaning fanatics are going wild for an affordable spray that banishes mould, and it costs just 95p.

The spray first went 'viral' on a Facebook page which seems to be inspired by the cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch, as many say the formula banishes the fungus in minutes. On the page, one woman asked: 'What's the best way to get black mould off a window frame?" to which she was met with hundreds of replies, many pointing her to the Astonish Mould & Mildew spray.

One person said: "The fastest and best way to remove mould or mildew is to use the Astonish mould spray. It’s magic, it only takes 10 minutes to work." But it's not the only way to use it as others said they use it as a preventative on surfaces that are prone to getting mould.

One person said: "I also wipe any condensation away with an old towel when needed. This helps to prevent mould in the first place." The Astonish brand recommends users spray any area with mould and leave for a few minutes before wiping clean, and it regularly shares cleaning hacks from impressed shoppers to its TikTok page, including from fellow cleaning enthusiast Cleaning With Danielle.

With more than 1,000 likes and 200 saves the post shows how a simple spray of the product can banish mould in minutes, and all it needs is a gentle wipe, no scrubbing. The comments were flooded with viewers who swear it's the only brand of product they use that gets rid of mould.

One person said: "This is honestly the best product for mould, I will never use anything else." This was closely followed by intrigued shoppers asking what is the best way to use it, as one person said: "I'm getting mould in my bedroom would I use this spray and then have to keep using or does it stop it from coming back."

To which the brand Astonish replied: "It depends… how is the mould forming? How often does it appear? Try and find out why it’s growing." Intrigued shoppers can pick up the Mould and Mildew Blaster for 95p at Mega Retailer, one of the only retailers to sell it at this price. Other retailers including Morrisons, Iceland, Poundland and Sainsbury's sell the spray for more than £1.
