Moment train smashes car into mangled wreck at railway crossing as driver dies

This is the shocking moment a car is turned into a mangled wreck after being rolled between a train and a wall in an accident at a railway crossing.

The incident, in which the car was left almost unrecognisable after being mangled by the locomotive, led to the death of the 45-year-old driver, named as Jose Cicero dos Santos. He was reportedly still alive when he was pulled from the wreckage after the collision near the train terminal in Satuba municipality, in the Brazilian state of Alagoas, on the morning of September 25.

CCTV footage showed the train moving towards the crossing while Jose who was in his white vehicle and on his way to work reaches the crossing as well. The vehicle can be seen halfway on the tracks when the train strikes it and drags it in a tight corner between a wall, causing the car to be squeezed between the wall and the train. The train continues for a few seconds before coming to a halt, and onlookers can be seen rushing to the scene to help the injured driver.

Passersby pulled Jose out from underneath the vehicle, but he was already severely injured, according to local media. He was transported to the State General Hospital in Trapiche da Barra, where he was later pronounced dead

A fuel spill also occurred at the accident scene, prompting the Alagoas Military Fire Department to respond.

Twelve soldiers were dispatched to remove the damaged vehicle from the area. According to the Brazilian Urban Train Company (CBTU), the incident led to the cancellation of one trip and a delay. They further reported that their operations have since returned to normal.
