Jurgen Klopp admits even he has been taken aback at how seamlessly Dominik Szoboszlai has adapted to life at Liverpool since moving to the Premier League.

Szoboszlai, 22, joined the Reds in a £60million deal from RB Leipzig in the summer and has made an instant impact at Anfield. The Hungary international has been a standout out in Klopp's new look engine room, which also been bolstered by the likes of Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch.

The midfield maestro played an influential role in Wednesday night's 3-1 win over Leicester in the Carabao Cup, scoring a thunderbolt as the Reds battled back from a one goal deficit to book a fourth round showdown with Bournemouth.

Szoboszlai's sumptuous strike means he has already bagged two goals in his first eight games for Liverpool. And whilst Klopp hailed his fast start to life on Merseyside after the match, he admitted it wasn't something that he was necessarily expecting.

The German said: “Dom was a surprise with how fast he has fit in. It was pretty much from the first minute. Top-class player with a lot of quality. He never stops. He learns a lot from the game.”

Szoboszlai has helped breath new life into a Liverpool team which has now won seven consecutive games in all competitions. Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota were also on the scoresheet against the Foxes.

Szoboszlai's second half strike thundered past Jakub Stolarczyk into the top corner. And the midfielder admitted after the match that his "special" strike ranked amongst the best of his career to date.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: “It was very special. I don’t know if it was the best goal, I scored one of my best in the national team and also in Salzburg. But [it was] one of the best for sure. I’m just doing my things, working hard and always ready to fight for the team, for the fans, for myself. And as I get many chances, I want to give back.”

While Szoboszlai has made a near flawless start to life at Liverpool, the midfielder was still on the receiving end of a verbal volley from Klopp just a few weeks ago. The Reds new boy revealed he had been "screamed at" during the 3-1 win over Bournemouth as Klopp reminded him to drop deeper following Alexis Mac Allister's dismissal.

“I am feeling really, really great, I am really happy and I hope I can do even more here in front of the fans,” Szoboszlai told BBC Sport after the match. “We are there for each other and if somebody gets sent off then we change some of the things and I go back as a six. I cannot go forward as much, even the manager was screaming at me sometimes because I forget it. We fight for each other and we even scored after the red card.”
