Roy Keane believes the 'chaos' at Chelsea is not helping boss Mauricio Pochettino following a wave a new signings.

The Blues have been the biggest spenders in Europe since Todd Boehly's consortium completed a takeover in May 2022. They've spent more than £1billion on fresh talent - bringing in 33 players - but that investment hasn't delivered success on the pitch.

Chelsea finished 12th in the Premier League last season - recording their lowest finish since 1994 - and have made a slow start this time around. They've won just one league game under new manager Pochettino, who is already feeling the heat.

Yet Keane has sympathised with Pochettino. The Manchester United legend thinks it'll take time for all of Chelsea's new recruits to settle at Stamford Bridge, while Jamie Carragher believes the Blues will struggle again this season due to their lack of patience.

"(The Chelsea ownership) can affect the dressing room, the energy of the club, the leadership, but also the players," Keane told The Overlap. "The only thing I’ll say about that dressing room – the number of players they’ve bought, I’ve never experienced it.

"When I was at a club, sometimes three or four new players would come and you could see that it would take them time to adapt, from a football point of view, off the field with their families, and schools. But how many players have they bought? I can only imagine going into the training ground every day, I feel sorry for the kitman - it must be chaos!"

Chelsea got back to winning ways on Wednesday by beating Brighton 1-0 in the Carabao Cup, with Nicolas Jackson scoring his first goal for the club. Yet they need to start picking up results in the Premier League if Pochettino wants to keep his job.

Chelsea have suffered back-to-back 1-0 home defeats in the league to Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa. Carragher has urged Pochettino's side to build a "connection" with the Stamford Bridge crowd and hopes Boehly will give the new players time.

Carragher said: "We’ve all been in successful teams - yes, you need top players, but you need a connection in the dressing room, a connection with the manager, a connection with crowd, and how can that ever happen at Chelsea? I just don’t see it.

"The manager changes every two minutes. There are players coming in left, right and centre. There are probably two or three players for every position. When you bring a player in, for example Mykhaylo Mudryk - we know he hasn’t done well but they are still buying wingers. You’ve got to give that lad a chance.

"Every player must feel like there isn’t a real opportunity there for them because someone could take their place two games later. There can’t be any kind of spirit or connection at Chelsea from the top to the bottom."
