Strictly Come Dancing star Zara McDermott admitted she couldn't look at her boyfriend Sam Thompson as he watched her from the audience on Saturday night, thanks to a "hilarious" gesture.
Sam was immediately spotted supporting girlfriend Zara on the show on Saturday, alongside his pal Pete Wicks. But something both men were wearing on the live show left viewers amused, as some found it sweet. The gesture left Zara unable to look for her partner in the crowd though while she performed live on air for the first time.
Former Love Island star Zara confessed that she feared if she spotted Sam and Pete she might end up laughing mid performance, due to their "hilarious" outfit choice. As if watching Zara on her debut performance wasn't supportive enough, Sam and Pete donned brilliant shirts which were covered in Zara's face everywhere.

Zara has now spoken about the pair's outfits, admitting it put her off from looking at them while filming was underway. Speaking on It Takes Two to host Janette Manrara on Wednesday, Zara explained: "I thought it was hilarious. It was definitely very motivating but during my performance, I was trying not to look because I thought I was gonna laugh."
Zara's pro dancing partner Graziano Di Prima also loved the shirts, so he was thrilled when Janette handed him one of his own. He screamed: "Sam, look at this!" at the camera as he held it up, days after fans joked a new bromance was building between him and Sam.

She explained: "I think building a relationship between the both of us has been really key to that, because we have got to know each other so well and I was just envisioning that it was just him and I in the room, and I wasn't thinking about anything else."
Graziano added: "I was so proud, she's the perfect student... she never stops." Zara also addressed judge Craig Revel Horwood's scoring on the night as he gave them a mark of three. She said: "It's not a bad start to be honest, on day one I would have got zero... I'm over the moon with how it went. I know it wasn't the best performance of the whole night but for me I was just so proud of myself for doing it."
