DASHING PANTHER is fancied to give his rivals weight and a beating in the La-Z-Boy At K C Sofas Handicap (5.05) at Pontefract today.
Having made a winning handicap debut at Newbury in May, William Stone’s son of Slade Power ran second to Reina Del Mar at Newmarket and Alhambra Palace at Ascot on his next two starts.
The silver medals were gained behind two well-treated opponents – Reina Del Mar scored off 70 at the July Course and is now rated 87, while Alhambra Palace is currently on a figure of 79, 12lb above her winning mark in Royal Berkshire.
Dashing Panther was twice declared a non-runner at Newmarket in August on account of unsuitably fast ground, but the playing surface in West Yorkshire has been tailored to suit by recent rainfall.
