Britney Spears tells people to 'lighten up' after dangerous dancing with knives
Britney Spears has told her fans to 'lighten up' after she posted a video where she was dancing with two huge kitchen knives.
The singer sparked concern earlier this week as she spun and gyrated brandishing the dangerous-looking kitchen instruments. However she has now claimed that she was simply copying fellow pop star Shakira and that nobody should be worried.
Posting a new video to her Instagram account Britney stressed the good intentions behind the shocking clip. Dancing in a white puff sleeved crop top and neon pink bikini bottoms the 41-year-old chart-topper showed off her moves to the sound of the song Sadness by Enigma.

Shakira performed at the MTV VMAs using knives for a rendition of her song Hips Don't Lie earlier this month. On Monday when Britney posted the knife brandishing clip she wrote: “I started playing in the kitchen with knives today.” She added: "Don’t worry they are NOT real knives !!! Halloween is soon."

However eagle-eyed fans weren't convinced by her claim with one pointing out that the knives were “100 percent real” as an audible “clang” could be heard when she tapped them together. Several fans meanwhile jumped to Britney's defence pointing out the comparison with Shakira.

The video came four months after TMZ founder Harvey Levin was seen claiming she has a “fascination” with knives in Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom. Britney hasn't responded to his claims but she did hit back at her sister Jamie Lynn Spears after she made accusations regarding Britney brandishing a knife in her memoir Things I Should Have Said.
In a tweet that she deleted afterwards in January 2022 she accused her "scum" sister of lying about the encounter and insisted she has "never been around her" with a knife. Britney wrote: “I’m actually very confused about you making that up because it’s honestly not like you at all !!!! Jamie Lynn, seriously ??? Come on !!! Congrats on introducing your older sister the concept of getting LOW … LOWER … LOWEST … because you win on that one, babe !!!!”
