A £9.99 skin oil has been hailed by Amazon shoppers as being 'a must for scars' and a 'lifesaver' for people who have stretch marks. Bio-Oil Skincare Oil is a specialist product that helps improve the appearance of old and new scares as well as targeting uneven skintones and dehydrated skin and it's currently on sale on the shopping site. What's more is that this cheap as chips body oil has the royal seal of approval being a favourite product of Kate Middleton.

With a concoction that contains vitamin A and E and PurCellin Oil, this skincare saviour (clinically proven) can be used on your body and face to help alleviate the signs of ageing as its formula claims to smooth the appearance of lines and wrinkles with a moisture boost that doesn't leave your skin feeling greasy - and it's at an absolute bargain at £9.99.

Accruing over 45,000 reviews on Amazon, 80% of which are five star, it's clear to see that it does the job and has been described as "magic in a bottle" by some shoppers.

One explained: "It might just be luck, or the fact I have used this every night since 12 weeks but I am now 34 weeks and still not a single stretch mark in sight! Genetics were against me as my mum got them badly in both pregnancies so I swear by this product and that it has prevented their debut appearance! Also apparently a fav with Kate Middleton using this for all her pregnancies so that’s good enough for me! I May still develop some in the last few weeks, however I strongly believe this has kept them at bay so far - highly recommend!!"

Another said: "Bio-Oil Skincare Oil has been a lifesaver for me. I've used it to treat stretch marks from my battle with Crohn's disease, my wife used it during both pregnancies and we used it to treat a scar on my son's head after a fall. This versatile oil works wonders, delivering noticeable results and promoting healthy skin... Since using Bio-Oil I've witnessed a visible improvement and I feel the oil has also helped diminish the appearance of stretch marks and my son's scar, restoring our confidence and promoting healthy skin. I’ve found that a little goes a long way, making it a cost-effective solution for long-term use."

"This product is by far the best for keeping scars at bay! I used bio oil all the way through pregnancy and I truly believe it is the reason I produced no stretch marks whatsoever. It also feels lovely and smooth on skin which is a bonus," added a third."

While some have had miracle results with this oil, it seems it's not been a godsend for everyone, with several people disappointed over the size of the bottle and lack of results - which is to be expected as all bodies are different, and what works for one, may not work for the other. One shopper even stated olive oil was a better solution.

However, if lathering your body in olive oil as an alternative doesn't quite take your fancy, despite this brand being the number onr out there, there are a few other products on the market that aim to help the appearances of scars, stretch marks while also keeping your skin looking radiant and youthful.

Clarins' Body Tonic is made from 100% pure plant oil and aims to keep your skin tight and firm "perfect for use during pregnancy". It is a little pricer at £37.40 from John Lewis (which is currently offering 15% off skincare until October 3). Rather a lotion than an oil, but Palmer's Massage Lotion contains collagen, argan oil and shea butter (among others) to help improve your skin's elasticity and reduce the appearance of stretch marks - and it's only £4.48 from Superdrug.

This oil from Elemis - the Elemis Japanese Camellia Oil Blend, £45 - has left shoppers skin feeling "soft and so supple" and without stretch marks when using through pregnancy.

However, if you're sold on the Bio-Oil Skincare Oil, snap up the Amazon bargain here.
