Leaving your child in another person's care can be nerve-wracking, especially when you haven't spent much time apart. That's especially true for one mum who ended up banning a grandma from babysitting her son because she "couldn't respect her as a parent".

She explained how her husband's grandmother cut her son's hair behind her back, claiming he looks better with it shorter. Taking to Reddit, she said: "She is now banned from babysitting. She's cut my 17-month-old's hair three times.

"The first time my husband made it very clear that it was unacceptable and if it happened again he would shave her head. Last weekend, it was so butchered I cried and we agreed she wouldn’t be watching him any longer because she can’t respect us as parents."

Since then, the couple have been receiving phone calls every day, with the grandmother claiming they're "overreacting" about the entire situation. "She is my husband’s grandmother. His father died when he was 10 and she took over," she added.

"She got a dog after her son’s death to help with her grieving. That dog is now on his death bed and my son shares her son’s name. I feel like she’s using my little boy as a replacement and sees him as her son. Not only do they share a name but look fairly similar."

Wanting to know whether she's taken things too far, she has taken to Reddit to ask users for their thoughts on the situation. In response, one user said: "You aren't going overboard. She has now had warnings and refused to comply with your wishes yet again. It's not an overreaction. Stick to your guns."

Another user added: "I'd have done it after the first offense. That might be an overreaction but oh well. You definitely aren't overreacting." A third user said: "You are not overreacting. She’s done it three times. I’d say you’ve been patient. Maybe in the future, all contact must be supervised. She clearly doesn’t care about your rules. I wonder what other rules she has disregarded. You cannot trust her to do what you ask with your child."
