Keane makes it clear how Arsenal solve "desperate" trait identified by Neville
Roy Keane believes that Mikel Arteta has to clamp down on Arsenal's over-celebrating after it was highlighted as an issue again by Gary Neville during the north London derby.
The Gunners twice took the lead against Tottenham on Sunday, only to be pegged back on each occasion by goals from Son Heung-min. His second strike came just 27 seconds after Bukayo Saka had restored Arsenal's lead, sparking wild celebrations.
Neville, who was commentating on the game for Sky Sports, said at the time that Arsenal were caught cold after celebrating Saka's goal. He said during the match: “I don’t want to get caught up in an Arsenal over-celebrating thing and argument here but when that goal went in from Saka they all went to that corner.
“There’s a job to do, they had to concentrate and switch on and focus. They got caught straight away from kick-off. I don’t think it was the time to over celebrate in that corner. It was the time to get back to the halfway line and recognise that this game was far from finished.”
Speaking alongside Neville on the Stick to Football podcast, Keane became the latest person to question Arsenal's celebrations before claiming Arteta is the only person at the club who can change it. He said: "He [Arteta] is doing a good job but he does things I don't like. Sometimes you look at the staff and think it is over the top'?

"When there are 28 staff hugging each other, and the bus driver and the chef, you think 'hold on a second'. I am also critical of teams who don't celebrate. You have to be able to say it is done and switch back on. It is down to the manager to do that."
Keane's comments come just months after Neville went one further by branding Arsenal's celebrations following a comeback win against Aston Villa as "desperate". Furthermore, that convinced him that there was "too much emotion" at Arsenal for them to win the title ahead of Manchester City.

Roy Keane has joined Gary Neville in questioning some of Arsenal's celebrations (Stick to Football YouTube)Speaking on The Overlap back in March, Neville said: “Arsenal have struggled in latter parts of seasons, with last season the most recent example of this. This is why Manchester City will win the Premier League; because when it gets to the last 10 games, Arsenal will start to panic a little bit, the anxiety will kick in, pressure builds.
“If Arsenal do it and win the league it will be an unbelievable achievement, but they haven’t been around the block like Manchester City. It’s too much emotion, too early for Arsenal. To be that desperate and to celebrate that much with half the race still to go, it’s not a good thing.
“After the Aston Villa game, I can understand how big of a moment it was, but that level of celebration was quite desperate, quite early. There was a lot of celebrations at the end of the game. The emotions are something that’s a negative, it’s not a positive for me in a title race.”
