Good Morning Britain has been hit with over 300 Ofcom complaints amid Richard Madeley's rant on slavery.
During the episode of the ITV breakfast show on September 20th, Richard Madeley got in a heated exchange with a guest during an interview with the President of Guyana, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali. President Ali had argued that descendants of European slave traders should offer reparations to rectify historical injustices, with Richard slamming his hand down on the desk in response.
Ofcom received 334 complaints over Richard's conduct. During the interview, Richard had said: "Why should somebody who maybe had an ancestor seven or eight generations ago, long before they were a twinkle in their great-great-great grandparents' eye, why should they have to pay now for what an ancient ancestor did?
Richard presented the show that day alongside Susanna (ITV)"Or why should they apologise for what an ancestor did centuries ago? Why should they still carry that burden?" The guest then responded: "Oh, it's not a burden at all - you are one of the beneficiaries of that slave trade. You should be concerned and you should pay because you, today, are still benefitting from the greatest indignity to a human being and that is the slave trade."
At the time, viewers of the show had taken to Twitter to comment on the interview, pointing out Richard banging his fist on the table. One wrote: "#GMB Just watching Richard Madeley, getting very stupidly animated about almost anything & everything. Please calm down, & take a leaf from Susanna's book mate! Watch your blood pressure!!"

A second added: "When Madeley gets handed his a*** he bottles it because he can't cope #gmb," as a third shared: "Incandescent Madeley slams his hand down at a President as he gets roasted."
A fourth wrote: "The president of Guyana put Richard Madeley in his place #gmb." Whilst most disagreed with Richard, some viewers supported Richard, as one wrote on social media at the time: " If 18 trillion is the figure that works out at 562k per each tax payer. So for all those that agree with the president, I suggest you contact him to arrange payment."
