Jurgen Klopp gets major Liverpool injury boost as "world-class" star hailed
Liverpool are set to host Leicester City at Anfield this evening in the Carabao Cup, with Jurgen Klopp's side looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season.
After kicking off the new campaign with a 1-1 draw against Chelsea, Liverpool have beaten Bournemouth, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Wolves and West Ham to leave them second in the Premier League. They also kicked off their Europa League campaign last week with a 3-1 win over Austrian side LASK.
Ahead of their Carabao Cup clash against Leicester, Klopp's assistant Pepijn Lijnders spoke to the press and offered an update on the fitness of Trent Alexander-Arnold. He was also full of praise for back-up goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who is expected to start tonight.
However, Liverpool have potentially suffered a blow with a manager tipped to one day replace Klopp now reportedly set for another big job. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest news coming out of Liverpool.
Alexander-Arnold injury boost
Having been sidelined with a hamstring injury he picked up in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa at the start of the month, Alexander-Arnold is closing in on a return to action after missing three games.

"Trent trained yesterday with us but it was just in the rondo and the ball possession with the counter-pressing, but he was outstanding," Lijnders told reporters. "You see him instantly, of course.
"He is with the team training, I am not sure if he will be ready, we will see today. But then if we speak about Trent we have to make a compliment to Joe Gomez because the way he played the role, played the role in his way but still being able to come inside as well, was just incredible."

Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has been 'chosen' by Real Madrid to replace current manager Carlo Ancelotti next season, according to Radio Marca.
Alonso has earned a reputation as one of the most exciting new managers in Europe after impressing Bayer Leverkusen, who currently sit second in the Bundesliga after an unbeaten start to the season. As a result, there have been suggestions he could one day succeed Klopp at Anfield.
However, it appears as though he is now set to manager another of his former clubs instead. Ancelotti is widely expected to leave Madrid at the end of the season and become Brazil's new coach, paving the way for Alonso to potentially replace him.

Pepijn Lijnders has hailed Liverpool's backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher (Ryan Browne/REX/Shutterstock)Kelleher branded "world-class"
As Liverpool's backup goalkeeper behind Alisson, Kelleher was widely expected to leave Liverpool this summer in pursuit of more regular game time with his national team boss Stephen Kenny even stating he 'fully expected' the 24-year-old to be on the move.
However, a transfer never materialised and Reds assistant Lijnders says he hopes the "world-class" Kelleher stays at Anfield "for a long time". Lijnders stated: "Caoimh Kelleher has a long-term contract, for me he can play in any team in the Premier League, he is just a world-class goalkeeper and we give compliment for Alisson's role.
"That's what I mean, with all the talents of the players they can really learn from each other and combine. He was a talent but is not a [young] talent anymore, he is just a world-class goalkeeper. We're happy they are with us and hopefully it stays like that for a long time."
