The owners of a hugely popular grey horse have had their hearts broken after he died on the way home from the races.
Nobody Listens, the winner of 14 out of 26 starts, had just given them their greatest day when he captured the Grade 3 Turf Monster Stakes at Parx in Pennsylvania on Saturday.
His fourth victory in a row looked set to take his team to the Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita, California, next month where he was in line to contest the $1 million Turf Sprint.
But their dreams were cruelly shattered when he died while en route from the racecourse to his home base at Horseshoe Indianapolis, Indiana.
According to trainer Tim Eggleston, the trailer carrying Nobody Listens was travelling through Columbus in Ohio when a truck suddenly pulled up alongside.

The noise of the screeching brakes startled the horse who slipped and fell over.
"He got kind of upside down in the trailer and he got stuck around and then he severed an artery and bled out," Eggleston told
The devastating news was posted by part-owner Matt Kwiatkowski who wrote on Facebook, “Yesterday was one of the greatest days when Nobody Listens won the Grade 3 Monster at Parx.
“Today was one of the worst. Nobody Listens had an unforeseen and unpreventable trailer incident resulting in us losing him. We love and cherish every moment that we shared with him.
“The ride Nobody Listens took us on was the greatest one we have ever been on. Our hearts are broken as we share this tragic news. Thank you to all who supported and helped make him who he was.”
His co-owner Jason Kaylor, wrote on X, "Thanks for the memories Nobody Listens! You provided dreams I never thought were possible.
"To win 14 races, back to back Brickyard stakes, 3 open company stakes including the G3 turf monster by open lengths. You had us small owners dreaming of the Breeders Cup. We loved you."
