The PS Plus Essential games for October 2023 are set to be revealed later this week, but that won't stop us from trying to figure out what games are coming this month.

PS Plus Essential is the core version of Sony 's PlayStation subscription service, granting you access to three titles every single month. Last month's lineup coincided with the announcement of a PS Plus price increase, so you'd expect a hell of a lineup to coincide with the bad news. Instead, PS4 and PS5 owners were treated to the middle-of-the-road Saints Row reboot and Generation Zero, which sits at a score of 45 on Metacritic.

This month is the first new batch following the price increase, so hopefully Sony will be out to impress with the new selection of games to keep subscribers around following the increase. The PS Plus Extra and Premium September 2023 games were a good start, but we'll need to wait and see how Essential fares.

PS Plus Essential predictions for October 2023

We'll explain our reasoning below, but as a quick summary we are predicting at least one of the following titles for the PS Plus Essential October 2023 lineup:

As always with our predictions, we like to look back to last year and see what was on offer. The October 2022 PS Plus Essential titles were Hot Wheels Unleashed, Injustice 2, and Superhot. Hot Wheels Unleashed released back in September of 2021, so since it's been a year since that was on PS Plus, we'll look at September 2022 for inspiration.

In terms of big releases September 2022 was a fairly quiet month for PlayStation outside of The Last of Us Part 1 – which we sadly doubt will join PS Plus this month. The major titles released that month were Metal: Hellsinger, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R, and Prodeus. All three of those titles ended up on Xbox Game Pass, with Metal: Hellsinger and Prodeus leaving Game Pass this month. There's a chance that Sony could scoop one up (like it did with Sid Meier's Civilization 6, which left Xbox Game Pass and joined PS Plus Extra this month).

Injustice 2 released on PS4 in May 2017, and some of the heavy hitters from that year include Cuphead, and Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice which we could see making an appearance. While the May of the following year included the likes of Dark Souls Remastered, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, and Yoku's Island Express.
