Terrifying hospital fire sees patients evacuated as firefighters rush to scene
Around 100 people were evacuated from Kingston Hospital in London as 25 firefighters race to the scene this morning.
Four fire engines and their crews from London Fire Brigade were sent to the hospital, as road closures were put in place around the area. There were no reports of injuries after a fire broke out in a cleaners' cupboard on the ground floor of the building. The cause of the blaze is yet to be established.
A London Fire Brigade spokeswoman told the Mirror: "A cleaners cupboard on the ground floor of the building is alight. Around 100 members of staff and patients left the building before the Brigade arrived. There are currently no reports of any injuries. Coombe Lane West is closed between Traps Lane and Warbank Lane whilst firefighters work to make the scene safe.
"The Brigade was called at 1101. Fire crews from Surbiton, Kingston and Wandsworth fire stations are at the scene. The cause of the fire is not known at this time."
