Denver Broncos' coaching staff have been criticised by a Miami Dolphins player following the Week 3 game on Sunday.

The Dolphins claimed an emphatic 70-20 win over the Broncos on Sunday at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida. As a result, the Dolphins move to 3-0 while the Broncos are 0-3 after the first three games of the season.

In the process of beating the Broncos, the Dolphins broke an NFL record. With a total of 726 yards amassed, Mike McDaniel’s team became the first in league history to amass more than 700 yards and score 70 points in a single game.

On the other side of the field, the Broncos remain winless after their third game of the season. Russell managed to 23 of 38 passes for 306 total passing yards with one touchdown and one interception.

In comparison, Tua Tagovailoa managed to complete four touchdown passes. He amassed 309 total passing yards, slightly better than Wilson, and did not have a single interception.

One difference between the two quarterbacks was their respective time on the field. Wilson took part in every single offensive snap for the Broncos, while Tagovailoa was replaced by Mike White in the fourth quarter with the game long since decided on the scoreline.

The decision not to replace Wilson with the back-up quarterback with the result of the game decided long before the end of the fourth quarter seemingly irritated one Dolphins player. Cornerback Xavien Howard labelled the decision not to withdraw Wilson as “disrespectful” by the Broncos coaching staff, which includes head coach Sean Payton.

“That was totally disrespectful,” Howard is quoted as having said, via . “That man did a lot for this game. They’ve got to do better on that side. You can’t be leaving guys like that out there.”

Even though the game was far from a success for the Broncos and Wilson, the veteran quarterback was still busy when he was on the field. He was sacked once to go along with the seven he incurred in the Week Two loss to the Washington Commanders.

The Broncos have Jarrett Stidham as the back-up quarterback, but Payton opted not to use the former fourth-round pick to give Wilson some time off the field. Now the Broncos will be busy looking ahead to Week Four where a road visit against the 0-3 Chicago Bears will see both teams looking for their first wins of the season.
