Newsboy's racing tips for Tuesday's four meetings, including Nottingham nap

ALHAMBRA PALACE (5.00) can rule over his rivals in the Grassroots Series Stayers' Final Handicap at Nottingham over a mile and six furlongs.

The son of Le Havre has progressed rapidly throughout the season since finishing fourth in a Class 6 handicap at Leicester in June.

Once William Haggas discovered he needed further than a mile and a quarter, the three-year-old finished a neck second to another improving sort at Epsom over a mile and a half, before getting off the mark in impressive fashion by four and a half lengths at Ascot.

His trainer then stepped him up still further and despite a 6lb penalty he duly won on heavy ground at Sandown over today’s trip.

He was last seen at York’s Ebor meeting last month, where he finished a commendable fifth in a very competitive Melrose Handicap behind Middle Earth.

Ruth Carr’s HOSTELRY (5.45) has been in fine fettle this term, with three wins from 13 runs, the last of which being her best when scoring in a Carlisle handicap by half a length.

The six-year-old mare rarely runs a bad race and she can complete a hat-trick of victories in the Rose 'The Flag' Gosney Thank You Handicap over an extended mile at Beverley.
