Denver Broncos offensive lineman Garrett Bolles was left dejected following his team’s crushing 50-point defeat to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
In Week 3 of the 2023 NFL season, the Broncos were crushed 70-20 at Hard Rock Stadium as Tua Tagovailoa completed 23 of 26 passes for 309 yards and four touchdowns. The rushing attack was potent; Raheem Mostert and rookie Devon Achane combined for 375 total yards and a scarcely-believable eight touchdowns.
The win leaves the Dolphins with an unblemished 3-0 record, starting without a loss through three weeks for the second time under sophomore head coach Mike McDaniel. Meanwhile, after losing by a single point in Week 1 and two points in Week 2, the Broncos were outscored by 50 to slip to 0-3.
Following the embarassing defeat, Bolles sat in his locker appearing uttlerly lost and despondent. When asked what the emotions wre like in the locker room, Bolles was honest and did not shy away from his frustration.
“S***,” Bolles said via 9NEWS. “S***. I'm tired of losing, man. I’ve been here for seven years, and all I've done is lost, and it's frustrating.”

Since being selected by the Broncos in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the most successful season Bolles has experienced came in the form of a pair of seven-win seasons in 2019 and 2022. He was undoubtedly frustrated by his team’s showing on Sunday, but the offense was hardly at fault.
Ultimately, it was Vance Joseph's defense that relinquished 70 points - the most single-game points scored in an NFL game since 1966. Miami were just the fourth team in NFL history to score at least 70 points, a couple shy of the league’s all-time single-game scoring record when Washington scored 72 against the New York Giants.

Through 12 quarters of play, Joseph's defense has relinquished 122 points to opponents - an average of over 40 points per game.
The weight of the crushing defeat may be getting to Broncos head coach Sean Payton. Immediately following the game, Payton snapped at a reporter and ran out of patience with questions regarding the historically poor defeat.
“I’m aware. What’s the question?” Payton declared. “What’s the question? I just finished telling you. Next question.”
Payton and the Broncos must turn it around as they head into Week 4. Denver will take on the also winless Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Oct. 1.
