This Morning fans demand Ben Shephard replace star and become permanent host
This Morning viewers have called for Ben Shephard to be a permanent host as they call him a "perfect fit".
The TV presenter, who usually appears on Good Morning Britain, switched over to present This Morning on Monday alongside Holly Willoughby. Ben is a staple on many ITV programmes including Tipping Point and Ninja Warrior UK, but made his debut on the daytime chat show when filling in for Craig Doyle.
Viewers were delighted with Ben as a This Morning host, as they took to X -formerly known as Twitter - to share their thoughts. One said: "I have always liked @benshephard I hope he is here to stay! #thismorning." Another added: "@benshephard looks [ok hand emoji] in his #ThisMorning clobber. This needs to be his new uniform on GMB." Someone else gushed: " Oo I like Ben Shephard being on This Morning Good choice!"

Another pleaded: "Ben Shephard we need him every morning. Please !!!!" "Ben should be permanent with Holly. They've worked together loads. He can laugh at the right moment. He's not loud. He's respectful.. he's professional. #ThisMorning," commented someone else. "OMG Ben Shepherd on this morning. That’s all my work cancelled till lunchtime #thismorning," quipped a viewer as another said: "Ben Shepherd has finally made his way to the #ThisMorning couch. It just seems like a natural fit. Hope they make the move permanent."
This Morning co-hosts Alison Hammond, 48, and Dermot O’Leary, 50, announced Ben's appearance on the show as they signed off on Friday’s edition of the long-running programme. As they prepared to depart the studios for the weekend, Alison explained: "Holly will be back on Monday when she's gonna be presenting alongside the lovely Ben Shephard." While Dermot added: "Yeah, as it should be!"
Phillip Schofield mocks Molly-Mae's baby name in cruel swipe at Love Island star
Since former host Phillip Schofield's departure earlier this year after admitting to an "unwise but not illegal" affair, ITV have decided to have a revolving roster of presenters rather than a permanent replacement. Holly, Alison, Dermot, Craig, 38-year-old Josie Gibson and seemingly now also Ben all present the show. "It will essentially be Holly's show. Bosses hope that they can put all of the Schofield scandal behind them and start concentrating on the content of the show rather than the twosome presenting it.
"At least this way there won't be any falling out," a source told the Daily Mail. It came after Holly was reportedly set to sign a brand new contract with This Morning which sees her get a bumper pay rise. She was said to return after the summer break as the 'main star', with ITV being 'delighted' that she agreed to return. It is understood that she will be paid more than her current £700,000 salary for hosting the show.
