Jake Paul boasts of earning $30million despite losing Tommy Fury fight

Jake Paul has boasted of banking $30million (£25m) from his fight with Tommy Fury despite losing to the British reality TV star.

Paul dropped Fury in the final round of their fight on Sunday night but was on the wrong end of a split decision when the fight went to the judges after eight rounds. But despite suffering the first defeat of his professional career, Paul claims he will receive an eight-figure cheque for his efforts.

He took to Instagram to post a video of himself pretending to cry before bursting into a smile with the caption: "When you lost but made $30m". Fury is expected to make around a third of Paul's purse having been the underdog going into the fight - but both men could be in for another bumper pay day if they formally agree to a rematch.

Paul has the option in his contract to exercise his right to a second fight and said he would do just that following the final bell. "We can run it back," he said. "I think we deserve that rematch. All respect to Tommy, he won. Don't judge me by my wins, judge me by my losses.

"I felt flat - I got sick really bad twice in this camp, injured my arm. This wasn't my best performance, but that's no excuse. This is definitely a humbling experience. I've made it further than I ever thought that I would, and beyond."

Fury verbally accepted a rematch after being named a decisive winner by two of the three judges. “For the past two-and-a-half years this has consumed my life but tonight I secured my own legacy. This is a world title for me," he said.

“I had a dream and a vision that I would win this fight and no one believed me. I had pressure on my shoulders and I came through. This to me is a world title fight – I’ve trained so hard for this. This was my destiny, we did it. This was my first main event. I will come back bigger and better and stronger, if he wants the rematch he can bring it on."
