New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers says he sent a Chicago Bears-related text message to Jordan Love.
Rodgers left the Green Bay Packers in April after 18 years at Lambeau Field in a trade to the Jets. The 39-year-old won one Super Bowl and four NFL MVP awards before making the switch to MetLife Stadium.
As a result of Rodgers’ exit, Love was promoted to the starting quarterback role in Green Bay. Love was drafted with the No.26 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and had served as the back-up during his first three seasons in the league. With Rodgers gone he is now the starting quarterback for the Packers.
Rodgers will be spending the remainder of this season on the sidelines as he recovers from an Achilles’ tendon injury. Despite not being part of the Packers organisation anymore, he still found time to send a message to his former teammate in Wisconsin.
During Rodgers’ time with the Packers, he formed a dominant record against the Bears. It was in 2021 at a game at Soldier Field that Rodgers famously shouted “I still own you” to the crowd, as he boasted a 24-5 record against the Bears during his time in Green Bay.

Rodgers appeared as a guest on the Pat McAfee Show on Friday and revealed that he sent a text to Love after the Packers recently defeated the Bears. Green Bay claimed a 38-20 win over Chicago in the Week 1 contest on September 10.
"I said congratulations on keeping the ownership in place," Rodgers said on the show, via ESPN, while smiling. "That was pretty awesome for him."
Rodgers also opened up on the current status of his recovery from the Achilles’ injury. The 39-year-old is expected to remain sidelined for the 2023 season, but he hinted in a recent interview that all hope is not lost on the veteran quarterback returning to the field in the post-season.
However, in the same interview with Pat McAfee, Rodgers seemed more uncertain about when he will be back on the field.
"I don't want to get caught into a timeline," Rodgers said. "I just want to get healthy, honestly, mentally and physically, honestly.
“But I'm going to do everything I can rehab-wise to put myself in a position to be ready to play football again at some point. And that's the goal.
"I mean, obviously, when this happened, there's a lot of thoughts about, 'That's it, cash it in, you're done.' I just don't feel like I am, so I'm going to put myself in position to be able to play again."
